HTTrack Portable 3.41-3 - Pre-Release 3 [Testers Appreciated]

Alright, a new release of HTTrack Portable that should clean up all the registry keys now, it no longer includes the program source to make it lighter, it has a nice new splash thanks to ZGitrDun8705, it uses the PortableApps.com Installer, it's hosted on my new SourceForge project page, it's a newer version of HTTrack, I've removed the base project path so you can save where you want to, and some more cool stuff like that.

HTTrack is a website 'copier' so you can copy websites when you have fast internet speeds at some places, and view the pages later again when you get home, or wherever you are.

Download HTTrack Portable

Please post all suggestions, bugs, etc here. Thanks and enjoy.

Pre-Release 2, source is now hosted, removed some source for the WinHTTrack Dir, still need to update the splash to the proper website. Updated some readmes.

Is the source

available for download from your SourceForge project?
Apparently, it has to be. (Or, at least should be)

I know.

The source for the launcher is included of course and the source for HTTrack I was planning to upload, but all I found was each individual file of the source hosted on HTTrack's site, so I'm going to look for like a zipped up version of the source, can you find one?

You could get rid of

You could get rid of \WinHTTrack\libtest as it's just source code for an example of how to integrate HTTrack Website Copier into a project to use it as a "core library". Leave the readme file and that's it perhaps?

Pre-Release 2 is up.

Hopefully now just a splash change and it should be ready for an official release when I get my site up.

Problem Starting

OS = XP Pro SP2
App Ver = Pre-release 2
Installation path = C:\PortableApps\HTTrackPortable\HTTrackPortable.exe

When starting the app the following error message is generated in the window "HTTrack Portable | Nascent"
"WinHTTrack.exe was not found. Please check your configuration."
Upon clicking "OK" the startup process exits.

Me Too

Had the same problem. My install location is x:\portableapps\httrackportable\ (x: is usually g: or i:) I took the launcher from the version of HTTrack in the Armogohma suites and replaced the one packaged with this release and it worked fine. That's the launcher in the top level folder, don't have to replace anything else.

Sorry guys.

I don't know how that happened. Change the folder "HTTrackPortable\App\WinHTTrack" to "HTTrackPortable\App\HTTrack". I don't know how that happened, I'm uploading a fix now.

Alright.

Updated to Pre-Release 3 to fix that really dumb bug.

I love how 37 people downloaded it, and you two are the first to mention it, thanks.

Pre-Release 3 Feedback

The startup problem from PR2 no longer occurs.

PR3 (and PR2) place an entry in the Windows Explorer context menu, New -> HTTrack Project. Removing HK_CLASSES_ROOT\WinHTTrack\Project\shell\open\command] resolves this.

Thanks.

Thank you very much, I missed that one. Well, I think I may have seen it, just didn't realize its function, thank you.

Site update question

Great app! One question, though.
If you run this once and it finishes copying an entire site, when you run it again to update the download, will it delete files that were downloaded the first time but now aren't present on the website?

I know I could figure this out if I worked my way through the source code, but that could take quite a while. Smile

Thanks for the info, and for a great program.

I think.

It updates it, but I can't be sure, because I didn't make the actual program. I don't like to use it much because it puts a load on servers, I just use if for the odd thing.

However, now that I see people are manually looking thru pages of beta testing and finding and enjoying this, I will now start working on the portable version again.

Damnit...

I didn't want to ask something noobish until I was well established as slightly intelligent, but as soon as I add a url, it asks me to change my proxy to localhost:8080. I have no idea what to do from here. I know how to change the proxy, but when I do, nothing happens...

Maybe I'm just being dense, but I don't know how to use this app and have never used it before, but would really like to. HELP ME!

EDIT: And to make it worse, I found the step-by-step tutorial... Now I feel really dumb. Please disregard this post.

EDIT 2: The app works fine.

Not Me

I don't plan on updating it soon. Once I get other things done, I may. But if someone wants to go at it (best to start from scratch), be my guest.
