FF 2.0.0.5 leaves stuff behind

That is due to the addition of the registry.nsh (the NSIS Plugin) which handles the reg key.
It creates a folder in C:\docs&settings\username\local settings\Temp\
and in that folder there is the registry.dll
I think John forgot to add
${registry::Unload}
to the Launcher. At least all the launchers that have the registry plugin have this line and the new FF Launcher doesnt have it.
Hope this helps.

EDIT
I think it DOES help. Wink
I added the line to my Launcher sourcecode and recompiled and the problem is gone.

ff 2.0.0.5 launcher

Simeon,
Could you put the updated, compiled, launcher up somewhere, so we can get it and put it wherever it should go ??

Thanks

I'd rather wait for John

and see what he does.

Until there is an official response

I uploaded it [REMOVED].
Be aware that this an unofficial patch and might break something. I cant be held responsible for anything (xcept maybe for a better copy of FFP ;-))

Simeon,

Simeon,

Your .exe does remove the firefox directory (with the plugins dat file) on closure, but it does the the higher level mozilla directory, with nothing in it. I'm not worried about that but others may be.

Thanks

I didnt change anything but the reg plugin folder thing.

Simeon

Under C:\Documents and Settings\pj80471\Application Data\ there was a mozilla directory, under that was firefox with the file pluginreg.dat
shown here
C:\Documents and Settings\pj80471\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\pluginreg.dat

Using your .exe file when exiting firefox the pluginreg.dat file was deleted along with the firefox directory but the Mozilla directory remained
as such
C:\Documents and Settings\pj80471\Application Data\Mozilla\

I deleted the directory to try a second time and the same C:\Documents and Settings\pj80471\Application Data\Mozilla\ (empty) directory is remade and left behind.

Hope this helps

Known Issue

It's a known issue in the current release that will be fixed in 2.0.0.6 which will be coming out 'soon' (I know, but can't say when). For anyone looking to try the new launcher ahead of time, you can grab it here:
https://portableapps.com/downloads/FirefoxPortable1440.exe

Just drop that in your FirefoxPortable directory and rename it to FirefoxPortable.exe (replacing your current one).

Please do NOT post an unofficial launcher with the Firefox branding intact (it's not covered under the license and thus it's a trademark violation).

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

OK I understand

Could you remove the link then as I cant?
Does "Known Issue" mean it is mentioned somewhere?

Unofficial .exe file

I understand, I'll put original back in place as well. We were both trying to help in good faith

I had the same problem

and I deleted the folder manually and rerun FF.
It seccessfully deleted it on exit.
My guess is that this folder was left behind after some crash or something when the Launcher couldnt close and clean up the way it is supposed to.
Could you try that?
