PortableApps renamed my external hard drive!

Hi all,

I mistakenly started to install PortableApps on my external hard drive. I quickly cancelled the install and put it on the flash USB drive which was where it was supposed to go. Great product indeed, thanks!

But...in Windows Explorer my external HDD now shows up as PortableApps. I tried to rename it and it just switches back instantly to PortableApps. In Disk Management it is called what I have renamed it back to (Seagate, somewhat imaginatively!)

I then reinstalled it completely on Seagate, in the hope I could properly uninstall it. Its...........................nevermind its fixed itself now and I feel like a plonker. I'll still post this in case anyone has any idea why it wouldn't change when I first told it to. (I did view and remove all hidden files when removing it as well) so I'm a bit puzzled still.

Cheers!

autorun.inf

It's a hidden autorun.inf in the root. You can change the name if you'd like by editting it. Or delete it to reset it. Windows doesn't update it in explorer right away when you change it or delete it (as you found out). That's all it was. So, now you know for next time.
