Portable Firefox very slow in tabs

I am running 1.5.0.1 on a usb drive. I find it VERY slow when opening new tabs, there can often be a 30sec gap in time. It it espically slow with image laden pages. I was using deerpark before this and do not remember this problem.
Any suggestions?

Extension + slow drive

Most likely, you're using an extension like session save (which slows FF down) and a slower drive. USB 2.0 High Speed doesn't mean anything as there is a 40 to 80x difference in speed between a good drive and a generic one.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Ditch Tabbrowser

It's one of the biggest most intense extensions and results in a lot of extra writes to the drive when opening new tabs. That's why you see the slowdown.

Excellent!

I will give that try and let you know how it works out.

Nope

Not really doing it. Its like one tab has to load completely before I can even work in another. Unitasking.
Frustrating

Try a clean install

It's either your profile or the drive. One of the two.

Crash restoration slow down the app

It's true. If you're using extension like Tabbrowser Preferences or TabMix Plus, you have to disable Restore tabs after crash because it writes a lot on the disk each time you change tab.

Interesting... I just

Interesting... I just posted about my Sandisk Cruzer Micro 2GB with very similar issues. I don't believe it's extension related b/c the *exact* same copy of the app and its configuration runs perfectly on my old Lexar 512. (this one was on sale for $69 so I couldn't pass it up!!)

I truly believe it's the drive....
