autorun.inf

There is a hidden autorun.inf in the root directory that has the name in it. You can edit it to change it, delete it or format it just fine.

But Windows will remember the name until you eject it.

Please Seach.

Please Search next time as this has been mentioned.

Here's what to do.

Open Windows Explorer.
Select the "Tools Menu"
And then "Folder Options"
Go the the "View" tab.
Under "Hidden files and folders"
Select "Show hidden files and folders"
Go to your drive, you should see, Autorun.inf, delete it.
On next insertion, the branding should be gone.

Or open it up, and change

Or open it up, and change "Label=PortableApps" to your desired label (i.e. "Label=My Flash Drive").

Suggestion

Rather than the seasoned members reponding to all newbie questions with criticism for not using the Search function how about these members making that their forum sig? And especially the mods.

Maybe

Instead of it saying "Search" it should say "Search Before You Post" as the link.

Granted some people still can't read but whatever.

Don't bother

It won't help. Most users are posting for the first time and won't see the signatures. And it already says it at the top of the page they post on in red bold letters with a link to search before posting.

It doesn't matter how easy search is, it doesn't matter how many times you say, it doesn't matter how big the letters are... some people will NEVER bother to search.

True

True enough, but maybe it will slow down the members who use it as their opening line if they have it as their close(clothes) line. [bg]

People.

Won't read signatures as much, and they won't even think it means anything, they'll just stop reading.

There's only three mods that I know, Ryan, John, and Marko. Marko is a German Mod mainly, John is the owner of the site, and Ryan is the only other. So that's really one Mod.

How was that criticism?

Please Search next time as this has been mentioned.

And then I gave him a full description of how to fix his problem? I just told him to please search next time since it's already been mentioned.

I didn't do a:

SEARCH FIRST!!!

Like many users do, I'm quite sure I ALWAYS kindly tell them to search, and then PROVIDE THEM WITH AND ANSWER and MULTIPLE LINKS to help them solve their problem.

I can see how much criticism that is.

Why don't you make it your sig?

And John's right, many users will make it their first post.

Ask many, I have quite a lot of patience for people, some may not notice, but there's times people start getting rediculously annoying, and I usually don't get at them, cause it solves nothing, just starts more.

P.S. I like my sig better. (And nocr had your mentioned sig for a while, Kevin Porter did, I believe Ashes and Tears did a while back.)

Just to note,

We did decide a while back that rather than just telling people to search, we give them a link to the exact search and link(s) to the relevant results.
