I have just noticed something a bit disturbing: not only are my portableapps.com account details open to anyone who wants to see them, but any search engine is free to index them!

Please, restrict the access to account information to people logged in, or at least set those pages not to be indexed (either using robots.txt or the <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow"> tag).

Thanks

Hmmm

Personally, I never thought twice about it. I mean, it's your name. Is that really a big deal? Certainly doesn't warrant an exclamation point.

Anyway, I decided it's better not to have search engines hitting the account detail pages so I set them for logged in users only.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

As much or as little

John has very little required info on the profile pages. For example, I do not have my name on the page or my exact location. I don't see the fault, but I can appreciate your panic a little if that info was public.

heh

No one said you even had to put "real" or "any" info in there. When you are on the internet, don't take it out on other people for the information you put out there.

Think before you post.
