PopTray

I realize this was mentioned earlier this year in the development form, but I wanted to put in a request here because it looks like a useful app for somebody who wants to keep tabs on email without needing to open Thunderbird (especially on an older system where resources are limited and launches would be slower).

PopTray is a full-featured, customizable e-mail notifier. It shows the number of new messages available in the system tray, and allows you to quickly preview a message. Messages can also be deleted from the server without downloading. Additional plugins adds support for IMAP4, Hotmail, GMail etc.

It's open source, and the webiste is http://www.poptray.org/index.php

try this

http://www.npopsupport.org.uk/

It's already portable... I use it without problem...

It's the British development of a Japanese program.

Uh! About the License (from FAQ):
What are the terms and conditions for the use of nPOPuk?
There is no mention of licence conditions on the English language parts of the Tomoaki Nakashima's web site, so there is no definitive answer available, as nPOPuk is based upon much of nPOPuk's code. What can be said is that when he was e-mailed, he responded, "I can hardly understand English, support is difficult" and in response to a direct question about licences, he responded with the one word "Freeware". nPOPuk is distributed on the same basis!
