err.. i want an app that secures the usb flash drive.
i.e.
like the U3 smart System
i want something similar to it
like ...
the moment u plug in the usb the usb asks for a password validation inorder to open
it. as files being copied to the desktop or some sort of directory, together the apps should allow me to control/monitor the copied files.
plz help...
ESPECIALLY NON-U3 compatible usb flash drives.

not possible to have it autostart like U3 does. U3 uses a special partition that looks like a cd drive to the computer, and because cd drives are usually set to autorun, the stuff comes up immediately on plugging in the device. a normal drive can't do this. what do you mean about files being copied and monitoring copied files?

...when I was trying out U3 a few months ago, I read some reports saying that the "protection" feature of U3 is actually pretty lame and easy to get around.
On the other hand, there is some REALLY STRONG drive-encryption software that you can install on your USB drive. Have a look at TrueCrypt, for instance. Its "traveller mode" allows it to be run without installation (although you still need admin privileges to run it).
