Mind Mapping software

Mind Mapping software such as Freemind (http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) would be a good supplement to the applications already available in the portable apps suite. That way I could have a complete mobile office which would be awesome Biggrin

I second that. Would be great, especially since freemind is open source and can encrypt nodes...

Java

FreeMind is a premier free mind-mapping software written in Java.

Unfortunately it will only work on computer with the Java runtimes installed.

You can !

I did this by simply copying freemind and java then editing one batch file.
Have a look here: https://portableapps.com/node/1141

Works a treat for me !

It leaves files behind

It works, yes, but it also leaves files behind. Having the properties files on the stick instead of in a folder on the hard disk would be great. I haven't been able to figure out how this should be done. If you know how, please do tell me. I could use that information.

At least Freemind doesn't use the registry, I think.

Hmmm

I was sure that I had found the command line switch that would allow you to change that.
On checking I havn't.
I'll let you know if I find it.

I'm writing this mainly to bump this request.

I ran into the usual annoying situation with admin rights again today at work, when I would have needed Freemind on my workstation but didn't have the proper rights to install it. Having it available as a portable app would be really great for these situations!

OK

I'm sorry for writing the thing about bumping the request. As far as the rest of my post is concerned I don't think it's nonsensical at all. It's about a real problem that I would be very happy to solve by having a portable Freemind with me all the time. Do you at all see this as possible? It is actually a very useful program.

true portable freemind

i have been using freemind from my USB HDD, based on settings discussed here, for quite some time. this is one of the most powerful & very useful application for me, it enables me to use my mind more creatively. i can easily rate this as no. 1 application for me, in terms of usability, above even OOO, TB & FF.

i would love to see this app available as a regular portable app on this web site.

Definitely!

This would make everything complete. To be able to carry around my ideas is perfect. I love Freemind and use it nearly all the time now.
