Adobe Problems...

This has probably been answered before. But after using Firefox and opening some PDFs in the browser. I then close Forefox... but for some reason adobe seems to be reading from my USB and it won't let me eject my USB drive.

After I end the adobe process I can eject my drive. But otherwise my drive is completely unejectable.

Theres probably a simple fix, but otherwise it's annoying because sometimes I can't access the taskmanager and this means that I have to yank it out without ejecting. At first I didn't think it was too much of a problem, but a few weeks later Firefox performs strangely, keeps on saying scripts are continuesly running, slower, etc.

Maybe it was compromised... I don't know, but I'm hoping someone here can help? Thanks for any assistance Smile

Best not to

It's best not to use Adobe's PDF plugin. It often leaves the process sitting there hanging. It's just that on a local install you don't notice it. On local copies, I recommend opening it instead of using the buggy plugin. On portable copies, you're best off opening it directly in Sumatra PDF Portable from Firefox Portable (this even works as you switch PCs). If you really want to use Adobe Reader, I'd suggest saving it locally and then opening it. That way, if the process gets stuck, it won't affect your drive eject.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

But

directly opening it with sumatra saves the pdf to the local temp folder and it remains there.
I just wanted to mention it.

Install PDF Download extension

I suggest picking up the PDF Download extension ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/636 ) to handle your PDF file, that way you can download them & use Sumatra PDF to view them.

I know that Adobe Acrobat can be a pain to work with, especially when it's an antiquated version (one computer I've used on the road had 4.0). It's just easier for me to download the file & view them outside of Firefox.
