AT&T 8525

Will these apps run on an AT&T 8525 running OS Mobile 5? I'm about ready to purchase the phone and I already use many of the full blown versions of the software available.

Thanks for the help.

No

They only work on Windows and *nix via wine.

I believe the answer to your

I believe the answer to your question can be found here: https://portableapps.com/node/7797#comment-40279

It's a response to a similar question about blackberries, but it does make reference to windows mobile.

From my understanding of that post, software designed for standard Windows will not work with Windows Mobile, or vice versa. The way cell phones (including smart phones & pda's) are designed and operate makes windows mobile completely different then the windows used on computers.

Windows ≠ Windows Mobile

Windows and Windows Mobile are entirely different operating systems and alike in name and appearance only. You can't run any software for Windows on Windows Mobile. It's like asking if you can run a Mac app on a Palm Treo.

Looks like Microsoft has accomplished its goal of purposely creating confusion between the two.

.

I'm thinking that this should be in an FAQ, or stickied somewhere, unless it already is.
