None of the apps will start up

Hello, I recently bought an 8 gb flash drive and have been looking to get some portable apps on it! I just installed the standard suite to the root directory of my flash drive, howver every time I try to start any of the portable apps exe's I get this error message:

Any ideas?

Hmm.

NONE of the applications start up? Or just StartPortableApps.exe won't? Maybe it was corrupted upon downloading or installing? Maybe try downloading and re-installing the suite?

HOWEVER, if you're using Windows 2000 or below, look for the 1.0 to 1.0.1 patch listed on the Suite Page, that could be the case as well?

Correct, every single .exe

Correct, every single .exe (firefox, sunbird, etc.) give me that error when I try to start it up. Just downloaded the patch however it still gives me the same message Sad

Thanks for the help but it's still being stubborn!

Hmm.

Can I get your flash drive info (make, how long you've had it, etc) and computer/OS info please. I'm not quite sure. But I'll try to figure it out.

Sure thing. I purchased it

Sure thing. I purchased it on ebay and have had it for less than a week. I really haven't tried anything to it besides getting portable apps on it. However I have reformatted it.

If I'm not allowed to post ebay links please let me know and I will edit it out immidietly: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:...

I'm currently running Windows XP with a Vista skin.

Hmm.

It the drive was brand new, it should be fine (possibility it's corrupted), so...

Try first installing the suite to your desktop, and running it, if it runs, we know it's probably a drive issue, or it didn't install to the drive completely. (but the fact the executables don't run it weird)

Are you the admin on the PC? If they don't run from the desktop, delete all the PortableApps off your drive, try re-downloading (not overwriting the old files) and re-installing to the drive or desktop.

If not, I'm not quite sure, but I bet someone can help you out a few hours.

And if you have another one around, try plugging your drive into another PC and running the suite.

Locally

Try downloading a single app. Something small like Sudoku or Mines-Perfect. Install it locally to the PC (on the desktop itself is fine). Run it and be sure it works. Then copy it to the drive and see if it still works.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Similar problem

I have had a similar problem with a brandnew Yakumo QuickStick 2GB some times before. Formating it to FAT and than reformating to FAT32 did help.
