Hello!
I wondered a long time right now whether I should update firefox etc with the autoupdater or use the download in this forum... are the portable features unusable if i use the autoupdater in the app?? i declined the infotool that reminded me to update my app(s) now many times but there're a lot changes right now in the newer versions and I want to make an update imeditally... My sumerised question:
May I let Firefox (Thunderbird etc.) do his update by itself or should I use the download here and decompress the app about my old version??
Like every time: I'm a german pupil, so don't be surprised of my bad english

You can use the built in "auto-updater" of Mozillas Apps to update them.
But you can also download the new package from PortableApps.com and install it right over the old one (just leave it to the defaults if you use the Menu).All your personal data will be preserved.
Sometimes new functionalities are added with a new launcher so it is wise to download the package from here after a major update.

update. it doesent work to well, only because mozilla doesent send out versions for the PAM, only for the normal software. genneraly, when using auto update, firefox is unable to install the updates as a partial and asks you for the full on update. i am still working off of 1.0.0.2 thogh so i do not know if this has changed.

Autoupdate works if the files aren't modified (e.g. packed by UPX). I stopped compressing Fx's files when I noticed that it breaks autoupdate. I have never had a problem since.
