MPlayer sound is always in Spanish for DVDs

In the regular installation of MPlayer, without changing any options, the sound is always in Spanish. I have to either change the sound driver from DirectSound to Win32, or in the Audio Track submenu (under Tools) have to change from 128 (en) to 129 (en). Neither of these settings "stick" so they have to be done for every DVD I play. (In the Options dialog, I can change Language from Auto-Select to English and still the DVD plays in Spanish until I make one of the changes mentioned above.) I have nothing against Spanish, mind.... I can even understand some of it. But I'd rather be able to play DVDs in English by default.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I didn't see this problem mentioned anywhere, though---am I the only one experiencing it?

Not Recommended

MPlayer's DVD support is spotty at best and should not be used. VLC's support is far more complete and functional.

I just noticed somehting

and though I share it:

If I watch a DVD with mplayer, it leaves a folder called .dvdcss in my home folder. I don't think its a biggie as John said 2 posts up "Don't use it".
