If someone on my buddy list changes his/her buddy icon pidgin simply overwrites the old one. I actually dont like this behaviour. At least for one of my msn buddies (changes icon several times a day and I dont want to miss a single one).
Is there a way to save every icon automatically? A plugin or something?

there's a plugin for that.

it archives buddy icons. i think it's in the plugin pack. the address is
http://purple.guifications.org/trac
it adds a right-click menu entry so that when clicked it shows all the buddy icons a contact has used since the plugin was enabled. there are no options to be configured so i assume, once saved, it doesn't delete any buddy icons.
