Pagerank...

I stumbled across a Pagerank checker (http://www.pagerank.net) and I ran a check. Here's what I found:

http://www.portableapps.com has PageRank 0/10.
http://www.portablefreeware.com has PageRank 5/10.

Need to optimize Google or something...

Page Rank isn't worth as much anymore

Google has downplayed it quite a bit recently and isn't using it as much in conjunction with search engine rankings. Many newer sites (less than 6 months old) like this one just come up as zero despite ranking quite highly in results (try searching for portable apps).

Yeah, but

it's mainly because:
1. It's been around longer
2. It has more incoming links for the term portable firefox (primarily due to #1)

Bookmarks

It would probably be better for my ranking to redirect, but having the link there with an announcement allows people to update their links and bookmarks.

I usually err on the side of helping the end user.
