What is the relative path for bookmarks.html?

I like to use my bookmarks.html as my home page, but everytime I use a computer with a different configuration of drives, the USB device letter changes.

What relative path can I use in Tools/Options/General/Location(s): to make my "file:///e:/PApps/PortableFirefox/profile/bookmarks.html" truly portable?

You can't

Right now, you can't due to the drive letter change.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

My truely dirty workaround

Hi dforion,

as John said there seems to be NO _DIRECT_ relative way "up" from the "firefox"-directory Sad

But you have two possible "workarounds":

1.)a.) make a folder in the bookmark toolbar
b.) put there some bookmarks with "absolute" paths to your bookmark.html-file:
     e.g. file:///e:/PApps/PortableFirefox/profile/bookmarks.html
            file:///f:/PApps/PortableFirefox/profile/bookmarks.html
            file:///g:/PApps/PortableFirefox/profile/bookmarks.html
            file:///h:/PApps/PortableFirefox/profile/bookmarks.html
c.) access your bookmark.html through the links in the bookmark toolbar

2.) use the method I described here:
a.) set "resource:///" as your starting page
b.) put a "redirect.html" with a "refresh" meta-directive (which points to the booksmarks.html-file using relative paths) in the firefox-directory
c.) click on the "redirect.html"-file (best you name it like "_redirect.html" to place it "high" in the directory-listing)

(alternative: setting "resource:///dummy.html" as starting page, placing a relative link to bookmarks.html in this "dummy.html"-file and clicking the link to access the bookmarks.html-file)

Thanks, Cya! A little complicated response though deeply appreciated! I will see what works.

MyPortal extension

Maybe too late but ...
You could also use the great "My Portal" extension. It solves in no way the "relative paths" problem but will enable you to use your bookmarks as homepage, along with a few add-ons and presentation options.

PS: This is my first post on this board, so HI to everyone. And apologies for my english being not so tremendous Smile

This

is solved in the current version anyway.
Old topic.

Cannot access bookmarks on multiple computers

Uh, what update? I'm on v1.5.0.7, and I'm still having problems getting my bookmarks when I'm on the work computer! I just did a "Check for Updates" and none are available.
The directions for getting my bookmarks by Ryushi are full of JARGON and I have no idea what he is saying to do. I can't get any of his directions to work.

Can this be explained to me in simple terms?

Did

you upgrade to the latest version of FFP?
Or did you upgrade in browser?

Sorry but...

... I still see no way for setting relative paths to "local" files.

For instance how can I set the Sage extension (or any other) for Firefox to use my CSS sheet, stored on my usb stick ?
