Pidgin: Version 2.2.1 is out! :o)

... with important fix, it should be great if available soon! I was waiting for 2.2.0, and I don't wannna push anybody, but can we expect to see it soon ?

Just a current situation on the subject would be really appreciated!

"Done when it's done"

To quote Mr Haller.

Two things.

First, this is a community based forum and development site. Many hand help in that. The major hand is John Haller. He is swamped and will get to the release when he can.

Second, requesting updated apps in my opinion has a direct inverse effect on the development, because the developer has to waste time respond to update requests.

Life is about the journey not the destination!

If it's killing you to wait, here's a solution

Hi...

I've been pretty excited to get my hands on the latest release of Pidgin too, so did a little research. Guess what... there are instructions available on the Pidgin.im website that tell you how to make it portable yourself. It sounds pretty simple.

http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/Using%20Pidgin#RunningWindowsPidginFroma...

It may not have every benefit of a portableapps.com version of Pidgin, but:
1. you'll have the latest release as a portable app NOW, and...
2. you'll know it's safe. I thought about following the directions, zipping up the results, and offering it to others as a convenience, but I suspect most people would only download from an official source.

Cheers,

Work on unofficial version

I am working on an unofficial version of 2.2.1. I hope to release it later today.

No point

John's got it done, plus you can't use PA splashes, so there's no point.
