dirty volume

So I had my usb plugged in my computer when it started, and it got checked, like the c drive normally does, and it said the "volume is dirty". It works fine, but I wonder if I should be doing a defrag or disk cleanup on it? I know most folks say I don't need to do a defrag, as that just adds unneccesary wear to flash drive. Any other things one can do to clean it up or tidy the files?

Or by being a flash usb, it doesn't really need it?

I hadn't defragged mine for

I hadn't defragged mine for a year and it was really fragged. Defragmenting lines up your files in a "line" of sorts, so its easier for the computer to get to. I will be defragging mine when I make a backup from now on.

Too many bridges you can burn
Too many tables you can't turn
Don't wanna live my life in the real world

Defrag

I've been wondering for a while:

Defrag does a lot of reads and writes to the drive, would it be better to copy the drive out, then delete the contents, then copy it back in? Wouldn't that put your files in line with less reads and writes to the drive?

Have an Awesome Day!

Dirty has nothing to do with defrag

Dirty means that the drive was removed improperly (not safe ejected). Once it gets checked for errors, it's fine (though you may have a bad file or two).

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
