Portable Apps installer autofinds correct location

I've encountered some installer who ask the user for an install location. This might seem a little weird. I't probably possible for the installer to correctly determine where the portable apps need to be installed. (probaby by finding the portable apps menu).

In case of an additional PAM copy on HDD they mostly are in a subfolder I would imagine. On USB Flash Drives they probably in the root.

Maybe these installers I've seen had some older install app or something.

PS. Would is be possible (and plausable) to install on more than one PAM folder in one go? Usefull for preparing some USB sticks with a PAM.

Well

Some apps havent been updated in quite some time and still have self extracting yip archives.
Newer ones have nsis-based installers who find the portableapps folder automatically.

It is planned to have nsis installers with all apps but it would be too much of a hassle to update the app just to have a new installer. So John is waiting till a new release gets out to do that. So the zip installers will get replaced over the next months/year.

AFAIK it isnt possible to install more that one pam folder in one go.

Actually

I'm almost 100% certain they all have NSIS installers now.

With regards to the OP, it will automatically suggest X:\PortableApps\AppNamePortable if you have the PAM installed in the root. It won't ever check anywhere else, because it may take hours.

Nope

Nope, they dont have ALL NSIS installers, else I would not have bothered to ask it.

Hopefully the new PAM will be released soon Smile

Yep

All the older apps still have the 7zip self-extracting "installer".
