I am running Firefox Portable v. 2.0.0.7
I look at many web sites that contain a lot of banner ads,
which takes longer to download on my dial up connection,
is there any thing I can do to get FF, to download the web page with out
all the advertising banners, and hopefully load quicker..?
Many thanks
Adblock Plus
Will change how you look @ the web.

My recommendation would be a FF addon called Adblock Plus
If you go to the addon section of the Mozilla and do a search for it you should be able to find it. Once installed that should block ads from appearing on websites.
EDIT: I guess somebody already beat me to this. Oh well...
Thanks for the quick replys ..
ive already got Adblock Plus installed, and ive played around with its settings
but still every page FF opens is still full of advertising banners ... any ideas
about how to stop the banners , its driving me crazy. may be ive got some thing set wrong some where with Adblock Plus
Thanks .....
Just subscribe to a filterlist. It asks which one you want when you install/first start it. If that is not working then use another filterlist. Ctrl+Shift+A, then Filters, Add New Subscription.

Thanks for the comment, ive now managed to work out the blocking
> adblock Image ..Ok , but I'm not too sure what the difference is
between ..
adblock image or adblcok link
so ive now blocked the ad banners on my normal
web sites I visit , but its not as I thought it
would made any difference to the page opening / download
time, have I got it wrong in the thought that if you
block many ad banners on a web page it should open / download
faster ...?
comments / advice welcome ... Thanks
It may just be on a slow server.

Adblock Plus has memory leaks. Most advertisements are flash-based, so try something like FlashBlock. I use it, and it blocks probably about 98% of adds on pages I visit.
It had a memory leak. Prior to 0.7.

I think I'll switch back!
