Firefox Now Up to 2.0.0.8, Portable still 2.0.0.6

Any idea when a new version of Firefox Portable will be available? Firefox now has two minor releases.

I've seen the messages about 2.0.0.7 and the risks of using FF's auto-updater to update the Portable version.

there are no risks, but

perhaps there´s some inconvenience. See https://portableapps.com/node/9360.
there might be more risks in not updating, because they´re security fixes. Wink

Updated to 2.0.0.7 without any issues

I updated to 2.0.0.7 without any problems and it runs fine.
If your afraid of issues, make a backup of 2.0.0.6, then run the auto-updater.
If there are any problems delete firefox and restore your backup.

EDIT: Just updated to 2.0.0.8 no problems so far.

Does it leave any registry

Does it leave any registry settings? That's why I don't auto-update. The launcher is designed for a specific version of Firefox, but if it still writes to the same place, then I guess the old launcher would work.

So back to the question: Does it leave anything in the registry after the auto-update?

Can't say if it leaves registry entries

Its going to leave registry entries regardless as windows "tracks" every program you open portable or not.
I can't say if it leaves any additional registry entries as I haven't done a before and after capture and comparison.
I can tell you that after each update everything worked as expected on a few different PC's so apparently everything that really matters is still remaining portable.

Sandboxie it

and you will know. As far as I know there are no relevant entries.

Edit: ok, I did. It leaves some temporary files for the update (but not in the registry), nothing to worry about.

Ok.

I figured the update process would leave stuff, but does Firefox leave anything as runs?

Don´t know for sure, but

since FFP 2.0.0.6 writes back into the profile on Your drive , the path set by the launcher, so does 2.0.0.8. It´s not a major update just a security fix, especially the for URL issue. In sandboxie I didn´t check the sboxie contents during updating or running the instance.Afterwards I only found some temporary folders, most of them without any files. I think they were produced during update.

I mentioned that elsewhere,

so you have to reinstall Your local FF once, after that you´ll have incremental update without any problem.
