I just updated FireFox portable by mistake, using the autoupdater. I was typing at the time and the updater came on just as I pressed space. So it updated. Does anyone know if this will cause any ill effects in FireFox portable?

Not if it worked right. It would have told you the update failed.
The only thing you might notice, but that is the case with any update, is that some extensions might not work if their max version is less than the current update.
