Erm...

The manual is included with Toucan. It's a CHM file.

"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate."

Store Toucan settings on portable medium!

The problem is, as with many of the PortApps, that the settings for the portable application are being stored on the local machine rather than on the portable medium (e.g. USB stick). This is really frustrating when working with, say, OpenOffice and FireFox, but there is a workaround for this problem:

The settings for Toucan, as well as any jobs and variables you have defined, are stored in .\PortableApps\Toucan\Data. There are three files here:
settings.ini
jobs.ini
variables.ini

1) Search for these files on the hard disk drive and copy them to PortableApps\Toucan\Data.

2) In the future use Toucan itself to copy or synchronize the hard drive folder where you found the files in step 1 with the PortableApps\Toucan\Data folder on the portable medium. I know it's a bit incestuous, but it works.

There may be a way to tweak the registry or set up Toucan so that any new jobs, settings and variables are stored to the portable medium, but I haven't looked into that one yet.

Um,

what version are you using,. Toucan was written from the ground up to be portable and should always write to it's own directory. As for the other apps on this site they should all do the same.

Um, well...

Using Toucan 1.1, Steve. I'll have to give this a closer look, though, and try reproducing the behavior I observed, since Toucan works now for me as you described.
