Other extension the .exe

Is there a version of these apps with another extension?
I would like to see Portable Firefox with another method of running.
This because the .exe extension is blocked on my schoolcomputers.
Hope to have a respond.

Well

for one thing that can't be, All COmputers with windows has to run executables (assuming it runs windows) because without exe files windows it self can not exist. The only other thing I see it not running exe files is if the computer is not Running Microsoft windows, but rather Linux without wine

I think what he meant to say

I think what he meant to say is that he can't download the .exe files from the web. He can *probably* run the .exe file after it's downloaded unless they have a Windows Policy setup to only allow certain .exe files to run.

The answer to changing the file extension for download is also "no" unless someone extracts the files, Zips/RARs/7-Zips them for you to download from another site. I'm not sure that's allowed for the Mozilla apps since John has special permission to use the logos/icons. That's always been a grey area for me.

Technically, there are ways

Technically, there are ways to make programs with other extensions execute. Rundll will execute dll's as if they were exe's. And some installers put files in the Temp directory with .tmp names that end up running as exe's.

If the school's policies are written properly, though, these avenues will be blocked too. (No sense leaving alternatives open if you're going to the trouble of blocking unknown .exe's.)

It's also problemmatic to rename things, because various programs might not be able to run various things if they have different names.

RunDll would requre the file

RunDll would requre the file to actually be a dll. A non-exe extension would requre setting a file extension or using the command prompt. The former requres admin privliges and the latter is usually restricted.
