John, what is your end result goal?

John,

Can you give us a few words on the end result of what you are trying to get to?
Just curious if you are designing and growing with no particular end result...

Thanks and keep up the great work...I use this quite a bit.

John

Become millionaire so he

Become millionaire so he don`t need to work for his money any further maybe? j/k

"the way is the goal"

I think at some point this website with all the apps will be to much work for a single person. He is getting already so many mails he can not answer to all, he needs a secretary. Smile

So I think at some point he must stop adding new apps which need much support or he needs to give other people full access to all work.

He has already added people...

There are 2 other Moderators that I know of, Ryan and Marko. Also, there are several people working on development, mostly on the PAP, including SmithTech and Xrxca. In addition, several apps are done entirely by people other than John, namely Patrick and Ryan, but also a bunch of other people.

Hey,

Don't forget me. I've got a few that I'm working on right now (Stellarium, namely) in addition to TimeTracker Portable and DTaskManager Portable.

Oh Stellarium

Just haven't had time with Stellarium. Look forward to porterkm releasing it then.
Well I have a few apps in mainstream use and in development hell.

Only one problem.

I know others have had this problem, but I can only launch Stellarium from the command line, and can't launch Stellarium Portable at all. I'll release it, as I know that others aren't having this problem.

Trouble launching

If I remember correctly I had a problem like that when I started looking at Stellarium 0.9.0 as it was released, same went with JDoom too if memory serves well.

Thanks.

I'll look into that, maybe release an older version (better than nothing, eh?).

Well,

I would have thought I was a good example, being the only dev with a program released on this site (Toucan).

Pure luck

Mine would have been out sooner if... erm, John read his emails. Yes. Hehe.
Also, yours was already established as PUSS and isn't a launcher, so it doesn't count Blum The logo sucks too Biggrin

Well,

Toucan 1.2 does use a launcher, and as for the icon, if you want to make a better one that's fine, but I quite like the current one.

To be the owner of this

To be the owner of this website must look good inside an resume or application.

He gives us something for free, he stays friendly but I think he is getting some money thought this page also. But however, this project is perfectly okay.

Ads

Just to tell you, he makes a bit of money off of the (usually unnoticed) ads on the page.

Exactly.

As far as I know, John makes around $0-$1 from this site. In fact, he spends more than he gets. What a kind man. Smile (I feel happy today :D)

volunteer hours are worth ...

about $18.41 US dollar an hour, so if someone needed to report their time working on such projects, that's what you can use. Smile

Yeah...

That's nearly impossible. Like Google, since there are so many people here, all it takes is one person in every 10-15 people for HIM to make hundreds in profits. And how the heck can bandwith (unless if it's free) cost 0-1 dollars?
