When I first saw this comment, I thought "why would you want that, the TV tuner cards aren't portable". I then remembered USB TV Tuner cards.
I'll take a look for you

...Ryan, ya need to remember that portability ain't just about being able to do the *same* stuff on *different* PCs.
It's ALSO about being able to compute on one PC w/o the restrictions of "installed" software getting in one's way.
If I have a proggy on my PC that serves an important function and is portable, I'll use that ANY DAY over an installed proggy, assuming that the functions are roughly equivalent. Then, I 'll either uninstall the "installed" software that does the same thing, else I'll use it sparingly at best. I already do this w/ browsers. I haven't had an INSTALLED version of Opera or Firefox on my PC for at least a year for this very reason...

The point of the site is so that you can move from one computer to another with the same settings
I personally agree though. I'm using Sunbird Portable and Pidgin Portable at the moment. I made DefaultMyFFP for the purpose of using FFP as my main browser, but I haven't been bothered to switch yet. It would be a lot more beneficial, since my current FF is completely cluttered beyond repair.
Anyway, I took a look and it seems there are no dedicated open-source programs for the specific purpose, but VLC apparently works with them (according to the Ubuntu forums, YMMV).
