Which is the better of the two - MPlayer or VLC Media Player?
And which Open Source Media Player is the most popular and most used(taking into account all open source media players and not just the two I have mentioned above) whether it be single platform or multi-platform is not to be taken into account. And all open source media player whether it be video/audio player or just audio player is to be taken into account.

Desk top shortcut

Submitted by Bob Rudolph on August 6, 2008 - 3:42pm

I have Thunderbird on my Eee PC and I have installed Thunderbird Portable on my PC desktop. The only short cut that I can find to click on to bring up my Thunderbird email is the .exe file and of course the just keeps installing the program. I am missing the short cut some where to click on to bring it up.

Thanks,
Bob

FF3 Theme idea

hi guys,

my idea is to create a theme for FF3 that looks similar to the original FF "Strata".
but the colors off the main buttons are changed to PA.com colors (Like "Strata Vista") and the icon set which are used in the new PA Platform.

so you can see on start up from firefox if you are using the host FF or the Portable

Installing R30 Menu

Submitted by IceCold54 on August 5, 2008 - 9:37pm

Hi,
I tried installing the R30 menu in every possible way (i couldnt find the official guide on how to install it) by just trying every combination of copy and paste of the files that come in the zip. I got it running, but i doubt im doing it right.
I copy and pasted the portableappsmenu.exe, apps folder, and data folder and replace all the original ones, which is what im guessing i was supposed to do. I get a pop up saying
'portableappsmenu.exe is not a valid portablapps.com release and can not be launched.'

batch file

Submitted by gjjh25 on August 5, 2008 - 2:09pm

I am looking for a batch file that will copy certain files and folders to the c: drive, and then another batch file that would delete them when i have finished.

Is this possible?

if so could someone give an idea of how to do it please?

.BAT File vs Changing drive letters

Submitted by IvanEBC on August 5, 2008 - 12:28am

This was origianlly posted elsewhere but after someone pointed me here .... i decided to try here .. and oh boy .. what a great app this is and i'm going to use it to make my little program run in a "cooler" way hehehe
I don't need my USB stick for firefox and all the other great options although i will investigate that further ... instead .. i want to run a small .bat script that does a few automated tasks for me ... cleans a folder on the USB stick, then copies files to the stick automatically.

Sourceforge

I don't know if anybody noticed sourceforge's new home and download page. It looks like this:

I saw it before, but it was only on their site for like half an hour, so I couldn't get a screenshot of it. The huge orange background image loads slow on my comp. Other than that, I think it looks nice, a lot less cluttered. Did any one else notice it?

I'm Finally Fully Back (August 4, 2008)

As many of you know, I've been "under the weather" for a while. I had said I was back a couple weeks ago, but it turns out that I wasn't quite fully back. Since this has impacted some of our progress since it began, I thought I'd let folks know what was up.

I've been sick for the past couple months, essentially. It was mainly some dizziness, some fogginess and some tiredness. It was impacting my ability to work but not consistently. And as the symptoms can be related to stress and sleep issues, I was trying to adjust things to solve them.
