What is the best way to update personal apps when new versions come available?

1. Save the new version over top the old version and "replace all"
2. Delete the old version (directory and all) and install new version?

I was already using SumatraPDF and I thoght it`s very portable by default. I don`t really get why you needed to release a portable version here but I am sure the will be a good reason.

So, I suggest a little changelog how different the version on this page is to the original one.

In general for all apps this would be usefull.

Hello, does anyone have experience with Kingston's DataTraveler Secure USB drive? I like the idea of hardware-based encryption but are concerned that it won't work well with Portable Thunderbird. Ultimately, I am trying to replace a San Disk Titanium that has worked well until recently... it does bad things when I touch it with any static electricity!

I am new to using portable apps.

1. If I purchase a portable HD with something called 'mobile launchpad', can I guess I do not need the menu system available on this site.

2. Would I be able to delete the 'mobile launchpad' and start with the portable apps mens - maybe I reformat the HD?

3. I am basically trying to figure out whether I would be boxing myself in my buying a storage device which had its own app menuing system? or do most people buy empty devices that they configure themselves?

'cause if i've got a portable freeware(not open-source) how can i share it for portableApps.com?

How much does running applications on a flashdrive ware down the flash memory? Is the flash memory only used when saving documents, or when running applications? If someone can explain the whole process it would be really helpful.

I already tried using the Search but wasn't able to find anything if it has been posted already. I know someone made a thread about iPod but this concerns flashdrives.

Anyone know a good Proxy that isn't blocked at schools, work, ect. I used to use www.flowz.net but it's now categorized as "chat/forum" and is blocked.

I downloaded it but I do not want it anymore. I deleted all the files but The drive wont let me change its name. It will continue to say PortableApps for the name even after trying to rename it. The icon also wont disappear... How do you get rid of this? please help...

I'm new to Portable Apps and I'm experimenting with a few Portable options from Portable Apps to Ceedo and U3. I installed Portable Apps to my thumb drive and it works fine on my personal computers, but when I try to connect to a hotel business center with computers that are more locked down, I can't get it to start up. Any ideas? I get a message that there has been an error and windows explorer needs to restart.

I downloaded the Base edition to my flash drive and then downloaded several portable apps to my desktop. I then installed them on my flash drive. None of them appear on the menu. What am I doing wrong. I didn't install them using the "install a new App" option. FAQ says something about directories but its Greek to me. Can anyone help.
