Live Chat is Working Again Post-SSL enabling

Live support chat in the browser is now working again in the support section. It was failing after SSL was enforced by default sitewide as it was using an older link to the http version of freenode's web client. Live chat is now using the https version of freenode's web client and will come up by default even with adblocking enabled.

Non-PA format portable programs

Submitted by laughingowl on May 4, 2017 - 1:28am

Needs some help if possible.

Done some searching and found the obvious:
https://portableapps.com/support/platform#addingotherapps

However my problem is the portal program I am using uses the structure:

..\Myapp\bin\myapp.exe
..\Myapp\AppData
..\Myapp\Core
(etc)

So the problem is while the 'reshresh' app, seems to pick up if you do:
..\Myapp\Myapp.exe

My program expects to be in ..\Myapp\bin\Myapp.exe

Are snaps different than portabelApps.com project?

Submitted by guziva on April 26, 2017 - 8:02am

Hi,

we always use snapcraft.io project on ubuntu. It is very similar to portableapps.com project. I had read that they will develop their platform to work on Mac and Windows. Can anybody explain what the main differences is portableapps.com project and snaps?

- main similarities:
-- they include the libs of spesific app inside it's own dirrectory
-- they dont touch other directories on system

- main diff:
-- they dont use "user-home" inside app directory

Thank you

PA Platform/Apps on an SSD

For those who don't know me, I've been around for years... I used to be a bit more active several years ago. Big fan of the platform/project. I started using PA on an 8GB Corsair Readout — flash drive that showed you the MB remaining right on the drive. It was really cool. Since then I've used it on big external hard drives, portable (bus powered) hard drives, USB 2.0 flash drives, USB 3.0 flash drives, and now I'm using it on a Samsung T3 portable SSD.

Move launcher to another app

Submitted by KPAH on April 5, 2017 - 5:20am

I'm using FirefoxPortable from this website as my daily browser for over 10 years now.
I keep it on a truecrypt (veracrypt) container, and have it registered as default app. To launch the browser, you have to mount the veracrypt volume with a password first. I secure my history and passwords this way (as well as other sensitive apps, such as messengers and email clients).
