This is a heads up for the PortableApps.com community.

We desire also to officially apologize to the PortableApps community, given that we used some of their powerful portable software without giving proper credit for their efforts. We are working to fix all issues, rehabilitating disabled splash screens and other minor inaccuracies, hoping to resolve these problems within the next Suite release. - http://www.lupopensuite.com/ (4-30-10)

Lupo has re-enabled the splash screens and placed the bookmarks back into Firefox Portable.

His suite is also going GPL and Open Source.

I've tried using Ketarin with limited success and also Update Notifier also with very limited success. I was wondering how everyone here keeps their favorite portable apps up to date on their thumb drives. I have resorted to just monitoring the RSS feeds until something better comes along.

Just FYI for anyone interested, as of 1.0.2, foobar2000 uses relative paths in its native playlist file for portable installs. IIRC, the use of absolute paths in the playlist was the only thing keeping it from being truly portable.

So after talking about nomination earlier it quickly became clear that actually before we could set a team up we needed to know what it was doing!

There are some initial thoughts here, and as the discussion moves on I will update this post. Some things to think about are:

• Shedule for clearing the backlog
• What actually needs to be tested
• How is the work going to be split up
• How much responsibility and power should the head have
• When is it right to move an app between stages

This is the nomination thread, you may either nominate yourself or someone else, but that person must then confirm that they can make the time commitment needed to be part of the team and that they actually want to!

As I saw more and more spam posts popping up here and there lately, I thought it would be cool to have a post where people could report spam posts and then Moderators could go and delete them.

I cant delete the posts myself but I hope this is still helpful.

Question: How do I delete comments like in the other "Outdated Apps" thread? Or do only mods have that power?

¿Is there any way to mount this virtual read-only CD drive (from U3 smart drives) in a regular usb stick? because I've scanned the whole Internet (xD) and i couldn't find the answer, soooo.... Here I'm!

I know that writing to it produces wear, and there is a limit on how much you can write to it until it becomes unusable.

does Reading from it also produces wear ? if I read hundreds of MB off my USB daily causes wear ? and if so is it the same amount as with Writing ?
