Portable Apps Icons
A couple of quick questions . . .
Where did the icons on the Apps page come from? Are they free to use in other apps and redistribute?

I found this neat ftp server, smallftpd http://smallftpd.sourceforge.net/
and it works pretty well. It doesn't require installation, only ftpd.ini which makes it very portable. It is only 185kb in size. I think it's worth checking out, it could easily run from a portable device. It runs extremly fast and has support for virtual directories. (I was able to show my c and d drives as folders within the root folder)
I am about to go out and get a 4 to 6 gig usb pocket HD. I have a usb drive with U3 and am looking for something that can password protect the drive so you cannot even access it like the U3 app. is there anything out there that will do that?
Also which is better a portable pocket hd or another usb drive? im looking for the best performance since i run a lot of apps from it.
Ok...I am not trying to sell anythig here...but I thought you guys might like to check out this MojoPac
I have been testing it in beta and it works pretty well. You can install most of your programs and it is not terribly slow. Unfortunately, it only works on Windows XP machines right now.
It is along the lines of indi but is here now...
btw, John yeah it's me the same tracon...love what you've done with the place
Let's say I'm running Firefox Portable (I am) and it notifies me there's an update (it did). What should I do:
1 - Go ahead and do the update - will it update properly and still be portable?
2 - Wait for the new release from portableapps.com
The question doesn't apply just to Firefox, but any app (Thunderbird, OpenOffice.org, 7-Zip, Audacity, etc)
Sorry if this question has been addressed somewhere else or if this is the wrong way to ask, newbie
I am not asking for illegal stuff I just want to understand if would be possible to run Macromedia Flash 8 from and external USB HD.
What kind of problems could happen ?
Would be possible to use Liberta' ?
Thanks
Hello, well you all seem like very tech and Pc savy folk. You see I was having trouble with a portable app and accessing the "Applications Data" Folder in my computer, (I'm obviously not as tech savy, who knew all i needed to do was click "Show hidden folders"
Anyway, what happend was that I was trying to get the folder to show up so on
C:Docs and settings/~
The ~ symbol being my account name, i right click and fiddled with read only, hidden etc, AND then i "accidently" click on the sharing tab and then on "Make this folder private" so this box comes up saying its doing something to permissions and I accidently clicked cancelled, so I checked and unchecked it, trying to get it back to normal.
I got http://www.microcenter.com/byos/byos_single_product_results.phtml?produc... today its so freking fast! Not to mention its pre-loaded software is awsome! I got it cause of the speed, my flash just dose not cut it for me, and size 1GB cant hold an OS.
i have just started a course on programming and am looking for an app like
dev c++ that is portable
thanks in advance
raym
I am wondering if anyone uses or has exposure to WD Passport Drives. I would like to hear your thoughts on these drives in terms of general portability of files and on the more specific topic of portable app usage. Thanks.
