Beta Testing

As promised, I've posted a test version of Sunbird Portable. This updates the launcher to add in all the handy new features within Firefox Portable. It also marks the debut of the new name: Mozilla Sunbird - Portable Edition (aka Sunbird Portable). New in this version:

In-Place Upgrades - Sunbird Portable now supports the ability to do what I'm calling an "in-place upgrade". This means that you can extract it right over an existing installation of Sunbird Portable without losing any of your existing data and it'll Just Work (tm). This will apply to future releases as you can't do it to an old Portable Sunbird release due to the name change.

I've posted a pre-release of 1.5.0.5 for testing. This includes all of the new features and fixes present in the 1.5.0.4 Pre-Release with the updated 1.2.0.2 launcher (read for full details) as well as a couple bug fixes:
- Bug Fixed: "copy file failed" issue if run for the first time in Windows 95
- Bug Fixed: Blank profile used if run for the first time within Wine

This also debuts what will be the new name of the application: Mozilla Firefox - Portable Edition... or... Firefox Portable for short. This new name has been approved by Mozilla to be the name of the product going forward. It's designed to indicate that it is an unaltered, official copy of Mozilla Firefox, but that there are additions to it made by PortableApps.com to make it portable.

Ok guys... it looks like the trademark issues may be finally ironed out and I can get a new release of Portable Firefox out the door. I've posted a pre-release of the 1.5.0.4 release and there are a bunch of new things to test. Here are the fixes and new features to check out:

I found a Win32 Port of Frozen bubble! so i got the dlls and exe's compressed and wow! it runs great off a 1.1USB drive its only some 14megs in total and its hours of fun!

All i reall did is put the dlls in there and also compessed them with the following " --best --compress-icons=0 --nrv2d --crp-ms=999999 -k " (got that off the Openoffice.org project) also non-working is the fullscreen its a bug that i am going fix so

After seeing a post in this forum of another portable spy bot cleaner and people where suspicious, I went on to make my own. This time it's Spybot-S&D!

I've posted a quick pre-release of the upcoming version of Portable FileZilla. It adds in the an automatic backup-restore to ease upgrades. It also allows you to unzip Portable FileZilla directly over an existing installation. Please give it a try... specifically, testing that filezilla.xml is created from one of the backups in the settings directory if it doesn't exist... and that it is created from filezilla.xml.default if no backups exist.

It is the well known editor gvim (www.vim.org) made portable.
There are two flavours:
a "full featured" version and a "lightweight" one.

Highlight is a utility to convert source code to various output formats with syntax higlighting. A portable version could be nice for educational use (ie public hosts at universities). The original tool does not save stuff in the registry - only the writing of configuration files need to be observed.

The installer is 1.4 MB. It includes a PortableHighlight.exe

Basicly, Miniamp is a shunken down version of Winamp 3 (yes, 3). Considering that the lite version doesnt install many v5 featues, I didnt see the point (and shaved a bit off the size). I've made the Configuration files (and the playlist) read only - to edit your preferences, give yourself write access (file properties) run winamp, and change what you need to.

The base install is 390KB, but this is with ionly the MP3 in, and wave out plugins. If you need more, grab them from your normal installation. ( Run them through UPX if your really short on space...)
