ScreenShooter Portable 4.04 Dev Test 2

App: ScreenShooter
Category: Graphics & Pictures
Description: ScreenShooter is an amazing little program that allows you to easily take screenshots and post them online. I mean, all you gotta do is press a hotkey and it automatically uploads your screenshot to their website, and it gives you the link to it. It's also got a built-in editor, so you won't need to open up Paint to cross out information or something. It's very neat to have, especially when debugging an app.

Test Screen Reader and Keyboard Navigation In The Menu

I'm posting a quick technology test to see if a new display method is working for our visually challenged users. The following test is a simple base menu with a basic set of graphical buttons that are navigable via keyboard. I'm looking for feedback on whether these 'show up' properly for users using screen readers before implementing this new method in the platform proper.

Submitted by Konsi on August 4, 2011 - 4:12am

Good morning together

I have created a encode tool. With it you can encode texts and files, with AES256 for a secure transport. It would be great if you could test it and publish on the portableapps.com.

You can download the package on the webpage:

Currently Cryper are only available in german.

Backup not working under Wine

Submitted by LanceHaverkamp on August 3, 2011 - 3:03pm

Bug Report:
The drive backup hangs at about 90%. The drive lights keep blinking, but never completes (half hour plus for a drive of about 1GB). Also the cancel button is grayed-out so users are forced the shut-down to safely remove USB drive.

Using PR2 on Mint Linux 10 (Ubuntu Maverick)
selecting entire drive w/ 7z, not maxed.
Seems OK on Win 7 though.

This is a quick test to try out a couple methods of fixing the proxy authentication issue with the PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 Pre-Release 2.1 release. Please try this two separate replacement files to see if they work. You'll need to download them and rename them to PortableAppsUpdater.exe and replace your existing file in your PortableApps\PortableApps.com directory to try them out. Keep a copy of your existing one to switch back to.

Portable App Directory missing info

Submitted by SES21 on July 28, 2011 - 3:27pm

There are two categories of information that apply to every app here that are not included on the main App Directory page, whether it's on the site itself or in the new platform app store, & that may be important for users to know.

The first is if the app only runs on Windows or whether it will also run on WINE. Some (many?) people like their apps truly portable, not only physically but also to run across OS platforms. If they're not familiar with a particular app, this may be a consideration for whether or not they want to start using it.
