32gb corsair

Submitted by gjjh25 on June 13, 2008 - 11:26am

I have just got a new 32gb corsair drive to replace my 8gb one. I want to store all my programmes and documents on it and have some room to spare. As i work freelance it is a lot easier to carry than a laptop.

Does anyone have any tips for setting it up before i start to copy the file over?

i.e a true crypt partition.
formatting?

etc

Thanks

Branded version of program - advices needed

Submitted by lamer on June 13, 2008 - 3:43am

Hi all!
A few days ago somebody (an owner of site which provides users with a hosted popup note application for their websites) inquired if I could make a branded version of PNotes that he would be able to provide to his customers. He asked me about rules and restrictions of GPL. I'm also not a expert, but I answered him that application should remain open source and he has to provide his customers with GPL license and ability to obtain the program source code. It seems that he agrees with these conditions. Are there other restrictions I don't remember?

Running Java in FF

Submitted by eltonjock on June 12, 2008 - 10:17pm

I'm certainly low on the tech pole so I generally need things spelled out to me very clearly. Sorry. I am trying to run a game in Portableapps' FireFox that requires Java. I would like to have it on my USB so I can play it at work (which doesn't allow Java on the comps). Can this happen so it can solely run off of my flash drive? And if so, how?

Thanks for any help!!!!

List of "Launcher Only" releases at the cubegames development wiki

Submitted by BrianAll on June 11, 2008 - 3:56pm

I decided to reorganise the "Current Projects" page on Ryan's development wiki, which some of us use, and I added a section for Launcher only apps. Since the development releases page on PortableApps doesn't have a section for launcher only's, anyone that has released a launcher only app might want to post it here.
I went through the first few pages in the Beta forums and added four apps, just to get it started.

HERE is the list of Launcher-Only releases.

SourceForge.net Scheduled Downtime - June 11, 11am to 3pm NY Time

SourceForge.net is performing maintenance today from 11am to 3pm NY time. During this time most of the site will be read-only and logging in is disabled so we won't be able to make any releases. I'm also holding back the story asking people to nomimate us for a 2008 Community Choice Award because that whole system will be offline as well.

Naming Conventions of Pre-Releases, Development Tests and Forum Topics

It seems some people are having issues following the conventions we've been using for development tests and pre-releases, so I'd like to reiterate them for all.

The version of a portable app is always the same as the version of the app being packaged. So if you're packaging Acme 2.5, it's gonna be Acme Portable 2.5.
