With this problem : https://portableapps.com/node/43542 i'm oblige (f*king boring) to change Google Chrome Portable by Chromium Portable !

I already done all my settings and extension again : 2 hours (boring)

But now Flash don't work !

Of course i know it's not include with chromimum !

I use many portable App from https://portableapps.com/ and i don't have so much problem !

Since i used Chrome Version 40.0.2214.115 for Windows, Multilingual Portable, 2 times i already lost my settings with this result : http://cdn.techdows.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Chrome-automatic-sett...

The 1st time i think it was a mistake of me, then i set again manualy chrome, and extentions and i saved each step of the config in a solid zip file to prevent again this problem :

New to portable apps. Have a question, and it may be a bit of a beginners question.

I also am in the process of making a USB that is a toolkit, e.g. using YUMI from pendrivelinux (which are not portable apps.)

Is there any disadvantage in installing PortableApps on such a USB stick rather than a simple off-the-shelf USB? Will everything run ok from the point of view of the Windows puter that navigates to the portable apps folder?

I just updated Xnview and cannot rename files. This is because the xnview.ini file is now under the apps folder rather than in the data folder.

I thought that all user settings stayed under the data folder and not the app folder?

With most likely wanting to migrate as many of their apps to portable apps as possible, it kind of amazes me that there is no main forum or sticky thread or main help page dedicated to just that subject.

Having a hard time importing utorrent settings for example.

A couple examples to start things off:
For Mozilla Firefox === this was working fine until l made FF my default browser - #(*()*)(*#@.
Copy the profile from within:
C:\Users\ZZZ\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
Paste it in within:
Q:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data
Rename existing Profile folder to ProfileBU

background: I've been using FreeFileSync portable (the author's version not the PA one) for a few years now. Before that I used DirSync Pro. I've a grumble with FFS about it not writing logs at the moment so I took another look at DirSync Pro latest.

I like it. It is natively portable (though not in PA form).

Possible negs are that it is java so appears slower than FFS and munches quite a lot of memory on my XP era system, but that shouldn't bother people with shinier kit.

I'm using the Portable Notepad++ and am having some trouble after hibernation if the program was opened. Right after the hibernation on the first use of the opened program, it crashes. When I start it again, I get a message that it needs to clean up some files from the crash and does so and ends. When I start it again, my settings under the menu Settings/Style Configurator is lost, but changes made to Settings/Preferences are still in place.

I've noticed that new versions of CherryTree and XnView are available from the developers, but the current versions are not on PortableApps.

Is it appropriate to mention this here, or is it known, and just no time to update them? It's okay either way!

If it's possible, Developers... Can you recommend a collection of Apps to install with the Portable Apps platform for a good rescue USB flash drive. Example?

I am interested in the utorrent portable app. But when trying to download it I get an exe file. Do I have to use a downloader or something to get the actual zip file? Or is there a way to download just the zip file?
