I made a little script for myself to use on my USB stick:

- Shortcut in root of USB to start PStart
- After closing Pstart in de system tray it will close gaim and gmailnotifier in the tray (but this, of course, can simply be adjusted to your preferences)
- It will then start "Safely remove hardware"

All you have to do is NOT to move your mouse while it does its thing at closing and (for a safe removal) close all the other windows before closing pstart.
Also the last "enter" at remove hardware has to be done by the user.

Well, I was wondering what you guys think of it! (and especially how it can be made better)

Can anybody make a profile/instructions for making the newest version of PFF look like internet explorer? I have to use the old version hosted here in order to get it to look like IE.

I have just found out that JabberD is portable !

All I had to do is copy the cygwin1.dll into the jabberd folder !

Background:
I work as an IT consultant on customer sites, hence my dependance on portable apps !
It's quite common for me and my colleagues to be spread through a building using "spare" desks. Now I can run JabberD on my desktop and we can use portable GAIM to chat to each other.
This is not dependant on an external internet connection.

Only problem I see is when the jabberd moves to a new pc everyone has to re-register as the "host" has changed, not such a big deal.

Perhaps this has been mentioned before...but I didn't see it at first glance..

On the splash screen for the apps, it shows a picture of a USB plug; on it, there are 6 metal strips, prongs, connectors, whatever you wanna call 'ems. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY. In real life, on a USB plug, there are 4, not 6.

I wouldn't have mentioned this, except today, i realized enough was enough, i had to say something about it.

Not sure if this is the right place to post, but I believe I've made "ThoughtManager Desktop" a portable app by copying over the two DLLs it requires to run (and also setting a local file as it's "output" directory...

To make your copy portable, copy the "ThoughtManager Desktop" folder from "Program Files" to your USB stick. Then search for the following two DLLs and place them in the same folder as the APP:

TM_FileIO.dll
TMRunning.dll

Then be sure to change your target directory in your preferences and you should be up and running!

Sorry, no syncing, of course, but you can manually export and import Palm ThoughtManager files, so that's still useful.

Is there an RSS/XML feed for this site?

If there isn't one, there should be.

I just wanted to drop a quick note in the forums as an update. I've chatted with a couple people about what's been up. I had mentioned I was a bit under the weather a while ago. I wound up sick for about 3 weeks and only managed to kick it recently. I should be fine now, but I have some followup tests just to be sure.

I also mentioned that there was an illness in my family that I was going to be away for. My grandmother had heart failure and was hospitalized last week and I had gone to CT to be with her. She passed away on Friday night. The funeral was yesterday. I'm just thankful that we were with her and she didn't go alone.
