PA Updater "bug"

Hello!

When you do an update of an app which contains optional additional localizations (like Pidgin), the updater will install it full, even if you have chosen "only english" on previous installation.

I would suggest too that there was a option to choose which localizations to be installed, because sometimes is a waste of space install multiple languages that will never use.

I have see [Illegal Site] make updates much faster, when a new browser version comming out then can i find on same day the portable version on [Illegal Site] blog and here only after many days...

Bernat works alone and here on PortableApps are many more dev's, is a little unlogical...

Are [Illegal Site]'s portable app's not good or why can he bring faster updates out?

Do Portable Apps work with DRM?

Submitted by Teknic on November 20, 2010 - 5:00pm

If a program has DRM (e.g. SecurROM), is it still possible to make a portable app with it?

My brother bought me Dead Space as a gift, and after looking it up I realized that it had install limits and SecurROM DRM on it. I'd very much rather not install this DRM stuff on my brand new computer, seeing as how I had problems with it in the past. I'm okay with installing it on my old computer though, if I can make a portable app with it.

argh! Bitlocker/Win7 and the desktop/usb

So my office now has bitlocker on all laptops, and remote drives that you may plug in, and it encrypts the usb key so it is read only unless you decrypt it. I am not super familiar with bitlocker, but what happens if I take my usb portable apps and put it on the harddrive, would it still be encrypted? Would it ask for the password?
I'll be checking with my IT folks, but I figure some folks may be interested or know of similar situations.
Also, IT says that I have to use Win7 pc's now, not Macs as bitlocker doesn't work with them, and there is a buggy add-on for the winXPs. Sad

Portableapps not working after install...DOS prompt comes up then disappears

I've installed portableapps on one of my flash drives and works beautifully but today I tried to install it on my 8gig flash drive (I'm using the lite install BTW) and it opens up after the install is done but once I eject the flash drive and reinsert it into my pc I am unable to open it. A DOS prompt comes up then disappears. I don't know why it's doing that. I double clicked the autorun settings and it's empty and the icon does not work. Any ideas what is happening? My flash drive is FAT32 formatted and it's 8gigs. Any help would be appreciated.
