Where can I get some advice on the spam I received within an email notification regarding a new comment in a subscribed post. The forum doesn't contain the same post. I don't know if it has been removed or something fishy is going on. I can't imagine the content is from the actual OP (as it states) and am concerned that there may be some sort of breach in the security of my email address as registered with portableapps.com

Hi, my portable apps icon keeps disappearing from the windows 7 task bar, it happens every couple of weeks or so.

I assume that this happens occasionally while the removable drive is not connected and windows is trying to tidy up things for me by removing broken links, but I can't figure out how to turn off this behavior.

There doesn't seem to be anything in the task scheduler that sounds like what I'm looking for. I've tried turning off all of the system tuneup tasks in Norton.

Anybody else having this problem?

I run FF 3.6.12 from memory stick.

My wishto homepage is located on the same stick in the same folder. (PC Win XP mostly)

The systems I use are many and varied, they may already have allocated drive letters and I want to have the chosen page load as homepage.

It is in effect a favourites page - but personilised with data that cannot be put in passwords/auto complete features. And is colour coded and 3D.

I use it exclusively - I just wanted to be that bit easier to use.

I was looking for something fast & easy & portable to mount stuff & found d.tools topic hire, but looks like its dead & does not offer any solutions.

In any case I found a Virtual CDRom Control Panel. its small(33.0 Kb) & portable & you can mount stuff pretty fast without any hassle, with just couple of clicks. Its not 100% user friendly but its free & portable & small & once u understand how it works it wont be a too big of an issue.

I seem to remember upgrading an app was as easy as installing over the top. However I cannot seem to locate the resource listing how to go about this exactly?

Hi folks,

been using Eraser portable fine for a long time in XP, but in 64 bit Win 7, the option to select anything other than 35 passes (Edit>Preferences>Erasing) does not 'stick'. Any danger someone could look into it please? Thanks.

Are there any Portable virtual desktop apps in development?

I see several different versions of VirtuaWin floating around the forums but they all seem to be dead.

I know DM2 had a PA.c development version, but the application itself hasn't been updated in eons so I doubt it will make it to a full PortableApps release.

I looked up the only other open source virtual desktop application I know, Virtual Dimension but that project seems dead too.

Am I out of luck?

Typically, if I try to browse SF for older versions, it times out, maybe because there are SO many files.
The beta interface works better - it still times out occasionally, but at least not EVERY time.:

Hello. Sorry if this question has been asked before, or if this is the wrong forum to post it in...

I want to:

1. Partition my USB thumb drive (Kingston DT 2.0, 4GB) so that i can install PortableApps on one of the partitions.

2. Make the PortableApps partition "read-only", so that viruses do not attack that partition.
(You know those filthy viruses that create autorun.inf files in the usb drives, so i don't want that stuff !)

Is it possible/planned to make application grouping? at least separators
Folders as it made in xp/w7 + separators could be the perfect thing for people who have a lots of portable applications.

Also i would like to suggest more configurable right menu, or even ability to hide it. I store my music and photos and other files encrypted and those folders are useless for me, but it could be nice if i can add some custom folders or even add explorer shourtcuts like my computer/control panel/cmd/etc.
