I read today that Microsoft released their own portable virus scanner and wanted to know what you think.
Did anyone test it?
How really portable is it?

Just thought I share it with the community!

Greetings.

1) Is there no way to be sent an email when certain/selected PortApps have been updated?
If not, then I submit that many people would like to be notified when certain/selected PortApps have been updated; so maybe someone could implement that?
2) I also submit that many people would like to be able to see on the main "Applications" page the date of last update instead of having to click each link for certain/selected PortApps to find/see the date of last update!

First and foremost you need to decide what you want to replace your U3 software with. there are several programs that can run a file on a different drive, but the one i find is MOST user friendly is an Open Source Program Called u3-Autorun not only is it lightweight it will also let you run ANY program that you want by simply changing the proper line in the u3-autorun.ini that you place on the root of your drive.

We should be able to choose how we view applications on the platform instead of just having the normal list view.

Maybe we can change it to just icons, or whatever.

Is there a way that jportable could be included in the new software dialog??

Just wondered whether anyone uses (or knows of) a utility, running off a USB stick that could:

1. Confirm that you have a live internet connection
2. Determines the IP address and then the Internet Service Provider of the connection is (helps if you need to use the ISP's SMTP mail server)
3. What Firewall and Anti-virus the host machine recognises as being installed.
4. What the Operating System, RAM and disk space available is.
5. Whether you are in an Admin user or not (helps to know if you can load your Truecrypt volume etc.)

Anyone heard of this occurrence?

Can anybody please tell me if (and where) the packager to create my own .paf can be downloaded?

I would like to package 1 or 2 apps that I use pretty frequently but since they are not freeware I cannot ask anybody else to package them for me.

If I could download the tool to package them I could finally use them in the same way I use other .paf applications and also launch them from my USB flash drive.

Sometimes I have problems with this function and when I connect my kingstone to pc and run autoplay in the window doesn't compare "open with start portable apps"!

I've tried a lot of times to reinstall the software also the updated release but without success.

Does anybody know the solution?

So some sacrilegious person or another decided to block the portable apps domain at work. Now, this isn't terribly difficult to get around, since I'm obviously doing it right now. However, though portableapps itself isn't a big deal as far as bandwidth consumption, other things tend to take up quite a bit and my upload speed from my home connection is poor at best...
