how can I permanently deactivate the splashscreen in any portableapp?

there is the *portable.ini
where I can set the variable DisableSplashScreen=true

also there is the *Portable.nsi
where I can set every variable with DisableSplashScreen -> true
But it never changes anything, even deleting the splashscreen pictures doesn't work....

I use cryptainer mobile for my encryption software how would i go about installing this if i was going to start it with portable apps?The software installs from the cryptainer software already on the harddrive to the usb drive.

I have a Dell mini9 and trying to find solution for installing my apps on USB, SD card and external HD.

For now I'm using portableapps and really like it.
But some apps are not opensource and cannot be formatted to be portable.

I'm wondering is it possible to use regular apps but install them on external HD?
for example: Pinnacle Studio or other big apps?

Also is SD card faster and or more reliable than USB key?

When I run the portableapps menu, is there a way to organise the items showing?

E.g I want Firefox and Thunderbird and xchat to be at the top of the menu.

Is that possible?

They have some freewares also portable. And i wonder how they create programs portable so fast and why their portables are in a .zip(it can be they uniextract it then zip it.).

I'm still somewhat of a novice with Computers in certain ways, so let's see how succinct I can make these questions and not make you have to read a book.

Until I can afford to replace it (or depending on the answer to my Second Question) , I'm still running Windows 2000 Pro on my Internet machine (circa 1999 Compaq w/ Celeron 700 MHz & 256 MB Ram) and it is due for a re-format, after which I plan on using Portable Apps Suite for my Online activities. My first question is...

1 - What is the bare minimum needed on my machine after a clean install of the OS?

I'm a new member on this forum, and although I try to be a good girl through learning by doing I have a huge problem:

I try to install portable versions of freeware software such as Skype portable (etc.) but although I can install (and use) it I cannot put them to the apps menu - as far as I think it's because the mentioned software has not the typical *paf.exe signature.

or I'm wrong in my steps...

I'd like to see added either under the Help link or where you add a picture in the upper right corner a way to add a Lost\Found ownership tag with name\address etc.

That way as soon as PortableApps you can see who the dive belongs to.

Just wanted to let everyone know that the whole site has switched from using the Tango icon set under the CC-Attribution license to the Oxygen Icons set which is dual licensed under the GPL and CC-Attribution. This means that we can now use our main icon pack within applications and splash screens now. Plus the new category icons will be used for the default categories (aka folders) within the PortableApps.com Platform 2.0 - which will have a test release shortly.
