It's on sourceforge, uses GTK and has already been ported to windows. A perfect candidate.
Also, I advocate having a separate gtk folder, i put GIMP and Gaim in one folder to save space(which i have then wasted with eclipse)

GNU Lilypond is a program to create sheet music. Its website is at http://lilypond.org/web/.
In order for it to work, one has to input information in a text file, and then compile. Inputting can be done with any text editor, but the compiler needs to be installed. I would like to be able to have this portable, so I can keep it in my portable drive, and not have to install in every single computer that I use.
Is there any way to make this portable?
GNU Free

* work with several documents at the same time (MDI)
* save desktop sessions to later reopen all session files
* FTP client - edit files directly from the web
* macro recorder to record, save and load macros
* search and replace in files
Does anyone know of one?
I just came across Task Coach today. Honestly haven't tried it yet, but the standout feature is having 'composite tasks'. There are a lot of PIMs out there with Task Managers, but none of them seem to allow you to have a task made up of sub tasks (without going the project/open workbench/etc route... which is TOO much in some cases).
I used the installer and then just copied the program directory onto my flash drive... that seems to work, but I'll have to take it home to another computer to test it further.
Being that I myself am a student at college I had an idea for a product that a lot of users might like. As I said before I am a college student and as such I use PortableApps for managing my course work and studies. It would really be cool if someone wrote a flash-card program. Something that allowed students to create personalized flash cards for their various classes and then allow the student to be able to keep them sorted and go through them randomly or in a set order. If anyone knows of a program that already does this or would be willing to give it a go I'd love to know about it.
i could really use power point portable so when im on the go and need to work on a power point it would be really usefull
"Bluefish is a powerful editor for experienced web designers and programmers. Bluefish supports many programming and markup languages, but it focuses on editing dynamic and interactive websites. See features for an extensive overview, take a look at the screenshots, or download it right away. Bluefish is an open source development project, released under the GNU GPL licence." ~~ http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/
I've used this a lot and I feel it would be a useful application for many others to use aswell.
