Does anyone have a portable expense tracker?
I wonder if it would be at all possible to have Dia (open source diagramming application) turned into a portable application? It would supplement Portable OpenOffice and Portable Abiword very well.
i know that this is not freeware, but the application, stores it's settings in ini files and can the last version look pretty neat with multiple news servers support and (but I not checked it) multiple e-mail accounts too, there is possibility to use for free a less featured non registered version which is freeware
i think it should be on a list here
this outliner/note taking tool looks similar to KeyNote or TreePad, but is open source and still under development, not like KeyNote which have been abandoned.
the author has put a blog and forum where u can post suggestions about his program
website is: http://www.neomem.org
i asked him to make this program storing its settings in the *.ini file instead of registry, as stands for now in 1.1c and he promised to do it in the next version maybe within a week
Mind Mapping software such as Freemind (http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) would be a good supplement to the applications already available in the portable apps suite. That way I could have a complete mobile office which would be awesome
This would be useful fo all sorts of reasons.. many small and useful tasks could automated this way.
(There is a Windows port of Perl, but I am not aware if it can be run in a portable manner.. eg. in an arbitary part of the file tree.)
idk if its possible, but bittorrent would be nice, not bitcommet or anything else
Microsoft Visio or a portable app that works with the 2003 version
for those of you who don't know auto hot key is an open source portable hotkey app but it also does scripts. think of all the times you have had to quickly exit your apps and eject your drive. If someone were able to program a script that did that it would be a great tool for appers everywhere ! the url is www.autohotkey.com make the world a better place!
Has anyone been looking at porting Inkscape to a portable app, since as we have GIMP as an open-source equivalent for Photoshop, Inkscape gives similar capabilities to Illustrator / Freehand for professional quality vector graphics.
In an ideal world, when Scribus (open source DTP) becomes stable under windows, then that's another possibility
