I have loaded the application at least 3 times and then when I remove the drive and then put it back in and click to start the application I am getting the following message:

could not find
j:\portableapps\porableapps.com\portableappsplatforms.exe

In comparison to virtual registry layers like U3, Ceedo, and PowerToGo; is PortableApps suite actually a software that needs to be installed at the USB Flash prior to installing portabel applications?

Or is is simply a matter of installing any of the portable versions of the applications referenced on site?

And would the data files of portable apps retain their format, so they could be copied back to a HD and be used for an actual HD-installed application if needed?

I'm a new first-time user of PortableApps -- using the Light Suite as of now -- and I'm curious about something.

I have used Windows Computer Management under Administrative Tools to force my Lexar 2GB flash drive to take the drive letter of H:\ -- if I take my flash drive to another PC, and it automatically mounts as say, F:\ -- does PortableApps still run normally?

I just downloaded portableapps to my portable drive. I'm looking for easy access to my files through the document/music/video file folders on the right. How do I upload my content (already inside my portable drive) into those folders?? I keep having to press the "Explore" folder icon to view my content. Help!

Everytime that I try to install the Partable App Suite - Standard, install hangs at the extraction of xul.dll, at the time of this writing its been going for about 10 minutes.

What can I do able this?

I was thinking that I could go with the PAS - Light or even platform only, and install what I want from there. Is there an easier course of action?

I am using the most updated version of Vista, Home premium, if it matters.

RE: Broken Download Links for "Platform Only"

I am unable to download the Portableapps.com platform installers because of "broken links" (source: Google Toolbar after clicking "download").

Is this just my computer being evil, or is this a legitimate problem?

I'd like to change the Music, Images, etc. folder locations and have PortableApps menu reflect these changes. How should I proceed?

I've confirmed and reproduced a bug in the current 1.5.x Platform where on Vista, when the screen DPI is set to 120 (aka Large Fonts in Windows), the icons for apps in PortableApps.com Format are missing from the menu. This is due to Vista's ExtractIconEx API not working properly with Delphi when in 120dpi mode though I am not sure if the issue is with Delphi or Vista at the moment. I'm working on a workaround that will fix it and will post soon.

Navigation-wise I mean. This is something that's always bugged me, but as 2.0 is imminent I figure I better bring it up sooner rather than later.

* The arrow keys scroll the menu rather than select. This is incorrect and makes the menu impossible to use with the keyboard alone.

* ENTER doesn't choose. Instead I have to click with the mouse. Again, this makes the menu impossible to use by keyboard alone.

Run As (Admin) - You can now run individual applications as an admin or other user directly within the menu.

So can we now use truecrypt on a computer with limited accounts and internet cafes?
