Update repository a'la Debian?

Submitted by beneedict on October 29, 2007 - 9:03am

I think it would be great to have a kind of update repository or a software looking for available updates and applying them since this would help to keep ones software up to date and would make the installation and upgrade of software easier! Preferably the updates should be performed on demand so one can start them when a fast internet connection is available?
And thank you for this great software, it helps a lot! especially openoffice.portable since openoffice is not that widespread on windows-computers yet! But also firefox ...

NetBeans or a similar App

Submitted by BluePlanet on October 26, 2007 - 2:06pm

NetBeans is a Java programming IDE that can be found at http://www.netbeans.org/ It is free but requires the Java JDK to work. Is there any way to package the JDK in with NetBeans? This app would be VERY large because the JDK is about 150-200mg and NetBeans is another 120-150mg. NetBeans doesn't (as far as I can tell) any reg entries except for the uninstall one.

Astra32 - Portable request - PC Drivers

Submitted by interlider on October 26, 2007 - 10:12am

Astra32 is an application that serves to identify what drivers you`re currently using and, if you don`t have them installed, tells you which ones - name, company, vendor, specs - you should download.

It`s great, really easy to use, open source and it serves a great deal.

Sometimes I just carry Astra32`s install program and install it in each PC I have to check for drivers, while I think having a single installation at my USB would be really more practical.

Note that this is astra32 (for Windows PC).

[Old Subject] Spybot S&D

Submitted by HarshReality on October 22, 2007 - 10:44pm

I noted several topics regarding SB S&D and aside of the gereal chatter there is no actual release package I have seen on the subject. But perhaps if possible could anybody tell me if there is an updated status on this?

I'd give it a go myself but I cant seem to locate a definitive how to or a kit to make the attempt myself.
