Got a suggestion for an app that should be portable? Post it here.
Thanks
I see you opened Text Editors section
there is nice open source text editor (with syntaxes highlights)
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm
it doesnt need instalation, so its already portable
Since I have a laptop provided by my employer (Government) I cannot have full access to some Windows' functions such as the onboard defrag utiliy or installing a registry cleaner. This is clearly a problem if I want to do some maintenance to the system, so I was wondering if you can provide a reliable and portable (for usb pen drive) defrag utility and a registry cleaner.
Thanks a lot for your attention
Francesco
Hi, I am pretty sure this has not been posted before, but I know the whole BOINC client request has so: As BOINC is open source, and free ofcourse, is is possible to make a portable BOINC manager.
btw, need any help with any of the projects? skype me: nunhucks. I am a BOINC help volunteer and am available most of the time!
btw it has to be v 5.9.3 (not fully released yet)

How about ArgoUML as a portable app? I know that it is often run as a java web start app but it would be very handy if it was available as a portable app as well since I'm not always connected to the internet and not always on the same computer.
I imagine that it would only be a repackaging deal but I'm not sure. Is there anywhere that has directions as to how to properly package a portable App?
thanks
I would be grateful for a scientific calculator as a portable app. There is Xcalc but this is reverse polish notation/HP which is difficult to use compared with DAL logic. I know it's only a question of what you're used to by HP style takes some getting used too.
thanks
It would be interesting to have an audio files converter on usb pen drive.
Can you do something? The so called "switch" from www.nch.com seems to be all right!
If portable, it would be even better!
Thanks
Hi,
It would be great if it was possible to add some sort of mind-mapping software to the portable apps range.
I'd vote for FreeMind (http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page) because it supports MindManager (mindjet.com) files. However any decent app described in http://www.mind-mapping.org/ could work as well.

I think foobar2000 would make a good portable app if possible. I find it better then Winamp for audio purposes and since we have Portable VLC for video it would be nice for those who want specialized programs. And foobar2000 also uses less RAM then WinAmp from what I noticed using the full install, and installed it has a smaller filesize then WinAmp.
It can be found at
www.foobar2000.org
Would that be possible to add Skype program in the available software list. It already exist as a portable format because i got it with the USB drive I bought. It was bundle with the software called "Nomade Mobile Dexktop" but this software is not complete compare to PortableApps. In fact, Skype was the only software that you did not have.
