Premise:
Posters frequently ask for a portable version of a certain software. Usually this is a common type of software that leaves settings or files in some part of the local PC if it is not modified.

John or one of the many frequent visitors to the forums might possibly see if that software can be modified and made portable or not.

Some guidelines:

Dear Forum --

Please forgive if I haven't found my "Solution" buried someplace in the Forum. I am (as most old folks) pressed for time.

Yes I did Search (and found nothing usable). So I humbly ask. There are 1000's of Browsers

Of the Chromium variants Vivaldi is least offensive, in terms of Privacy.

It would be most expedient if someone would kindly direct me to:

Can you create a portable PAF version of [lessmsi]?

Submitted by LRTAPP on May 7, 2026 - 10:14am

This is a utility with a graphical user interface and a command line interface that can be used to view and extract the contents of an MSI file.

Because I frequently use `lessmsi` to extract MSI files, I couldn't find a portable PAF version.

The portable version is also unreliable, so I'm sending this request.

Readest

Hello. Today I'm requesting a portable version of what I consider to be the best software for reading ebooks.

I consider it so for several reasons:
1. It's free and open source.

2. It offers a (albeit minimal) cloud storage for syncing files, notes, and reading progress.

3. It can open multiple ebook formats, including the problematic fixed epub3 format that plagues more popular ebook readers.

4. It's cross-platform: macOS, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, and the web.

5. It receives regular updates.

6. It works perfectly.
