Portable App Development

For me, the PA platform is fantastic and unprecedented for Windows!
I have been longing for a unified platform like for Linux. This is it!

I wish it could cover more apps, especially those made portable already
by distributors, such as Jdownloader, DC++. PA does not need to
repack or host a copy for downloading, but need to manage the update
info just like the others. I think it is much easier to get agreement with
distributors. Thanks a million!

The Portable Apps programs have been extremely beneficial to me in my work environment, and couldn’t have come at a better time. I was wondering if there’s anything in the works to have a Portable Apps desktop environment? Although the PA program is similar with the available programs and documents folder, but I would like to see something that simulates the Windows XP/7 desktop.

Hiyo, I'm trying to create a portableapp, I'm mostly done, but I'm having trouble with the icon.

I'm trying to create an icon that contains all the required formats

16px - 256 color (8-bit)
32px - 256 color (8-bit)
48px - 256 color (8-bit)
16px - True Color + Alpha (32-bit / XP format)
32px - True Color + Alpha (32-bit / XP format)
48px - True Color + Alpha (32-bit / XP format)

I have no idea how to do this. I am using IcoFX and GIMP

I recently pulled my USB at a bad time and it needed a reformat to function, and I went to the PortableAppsBackup folder and irritatingly hadn't backed it up in over a year.

There should be a way to create a completely portable version of Microsoft Visual Basic Express 2010. I think that if you used thinapp you could create a portable executable of the program. I already know of a portable version of Visual Basic Express 2008 that was created using thinapp. The link to it is here:

This is the 2008 version. Judging by this, wouldn't it make sense that if you used the exact same method on the 2010 version of visual basic express, you could create a portable version of it? Could someone please try it and let me know?

I am having trouble finding how to use java portable. I need to compile *.java files to *.class files, and then run those *.class files from java portable.

I think it is illegal for me to make these software in PA.c Format, I'm a single person so I think PortableApps.com should ask Piriform for permission.

The speedcrunch page states that speedcrunch would be english only, but both the appinfo.ini and the app itsself are multilingual.

Can someone please fix this on the Speedcrunch page?

Yesterday is appeared the app System Explorer Portable. For more details I looked in the file SystemExplorerPortable.ini and in the Data folder. Before the start of the app I find two things inside of the Data folder:

• a folder named "snapshots"
• a file named "config.ini"

In the file SystemExplorerPortable.ini I find the following lines of code

[DirectoriesMove]
snapshots=%PAL:AppDir%\System Explorer\snapshots

[FilesMove]
config.ini=%PAL:AppDir%\System Explorer

Since you've developed the portable app to use the archive compression power of 7za to compress ZIP and JAR archives, I'd like to suggest that this app be supported to recompress Android Application packages (.APK) as well.
