Portable App Development

I wish that someone would make a simple converter that took an existing u3 drive with apps that run on Sandisk and would convert it to work with Portableapps thus the end user would be able to just switch over to this menu system.

We’re an online newspaper based in Sussex UK looking for an app development partner. Ideally we’d like to work with someone who can develop a mobile app for our newspaper. In return we will provide the content (news, features , competitions etc) . Advertising and sponsorship revenue would be shared and perhaps we could explore working together on other collaborations.

I'm working on updating my old AutoHotkey launcher with PAL. I've come to a bit of a roadblock though.

The easiest way I can think of is to store AutoHotkey.ahk (the default script AHK.exe will run) as well as a "ScriptSupport" folder in Data (to store any icons or supporting .ahk files the user might require). AutoHotkey.ahk will be moved to %documents% and the entire directory of ScriptSupport will join it.

JKDefrag portable v. 3.36 was made obsolete long before the release of JKDefrag, or should I say, MyDefrag, v. 4.3.1, on May 21 of this year. As a concerned user of this program, I believe the time has come (and gone, long ago) to update it, especially now that it has been optimized for use on a flash drive.

I just came across a big problem in the Spybot S&D thread again, which should be addressed once and for all — if anyhow possible: Windows’ “Special Folders” like %APPDATA% or “All users Application Data”.

Windows addresses special folder locations via so-called CSIDLs, and starting from Vista, it uses what we call KNOWNFOLDERIDs. It is vitally important to use these instead of trying to hard-code stuff like

i cant understand how to make an app portable ive been trying cant really find a way to make any programs portable i would really love to know

I've been trying to get a working copy of Scribus 1.3.9, and I've run into an issue where when I start ScribusPortableTest.exe, scribus.exe gets started like it should, but it doesn't do anything, other than use up my memory - taking it to 100% in no time. If that isn't the issue, could someone take a look the package for me, and tell me if I'm doing something else wrong that's causing this?

I'm making my first app and struggled a while to get the PortableApps.com installer make the installer to my app. It kept complaining about no exe file on the AppName folder when its defined to be somewhere else on the AppInfo.ini. I had to copy and paste it there just to get the wizard started. Specially when I'm defining the files to be downloaded.

Am I missing something?

I recently found PortalApps and I'd some idea about making one of my game portable, Vindictus.
But I've the following problem : the game won't run until a key is missing in the registry and this key is located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Since I want to use the game on my school computers, I don't have privileges to add this key with a simple .reg file. So I'm asking you if there is a way to bypass the privileges? or simply change the folder of the key to HKEY_CURRENT_USER by modifying a file or maybe use the key in a .ini file?

I'm confused. I've added a post to the Apps Ready For Official Release, Post Here thread expecting that the app would be added to the Portable App Directory but there was no follow-up. So I looked at some of the older posts and I don't see any of those apps in the directory either.

Is anyone monitoring that thread? How are we supposed to publish our portable apps?
