Portable App Development

just thought i'd ask a quick question. if i'm moving files between the flash drive and the hard drive, will the Rename command still work, or do i need to copy and then copy back with the replaceinfile?

Is it required that I have a PAF-style launcher, i.e. AppPortable.exe, besides the main executable? Or would it be sufficient, assuming the app in question natively understands the PortableApps App/Data directory structure, to just launch the app's .exe directly?

I am compiling an PortableApps NSIS installer for the first time, rather than using an sfx archive. I have been working with the installer source code which is provided in about every app available on this site, but I am having trouble with the last bit of script:

Section "!App Portable (required)"
	SetOutPath $INSTDIR
	File /r "Files\*.*"  

This is where I specify the files to include in the installer, isn't it? 

I just did a fix for a problem with infrarecorder that needs to go online asap and i can't get a hold of John. Is there anyone who can post the new file?

I plan to make the plugins pack, however, for the base install of Code::Blocks, should I remove all plugins, or install the plugins that are checked by default in the standard Code::Blocks installer?

I'm still working on trying to make Code::Blocks portable, and I'm running into a very unusual issue.

I've met some success using reg rapper, however, the program I am seeking to turn portable has extension .dll's, and refuses to function without a particular one on the c drive. Is it possible to turn applications like these completely portable? I can get the registry and program settings to work, however, this .dll keeps getting in the way. Are there any programs to get around this, that would allow me to make the app portable?

This question is mostly at John, but to anyone who wishes to voice an opinion.

How important linux compatability? I have tested FakeNES Portable under wine 0.9.57- Mepis linux in case anyone cared- and it ran.

Usually, I browse with restricted rights both at home and at work, but sometimes I use a friend´s PC with my PortableFirefox on an admin account and they won´t change the settings or accounts for different reasons. So, to make it short:
is there a general need for a portable app like
dropmyrights Portable and if, how could that be acchieved or who can make it?
Any comments?suggestions?

i'm making Doom Portable using Doom Legacy and FreeDoom and I wanted to know if upx'ing the files would affect game performance

is the license.txt in the source folder supposed to be the license of the app we're doing or the license of PortableApps.com?
